- Use mouthwash. If you struggle with red, swollen, or irritated gums, you can use an ADA-approved mouthwash daily. Mouthwash should never take the place of flossing or brushing, but it can help to rinse away harmful bacteria from the mouth.
- Visit the dentist twice a year. Your dental appointments are crucial for keeping your gums healthy. A thorough cleaning and exam twice a year will set you up for oral health success.
- Stop tobacco use and excessive alcohol consumption. Bad habits such as smoking, vaping, chewing tobacco, and drinking a lot of alcohol can ruin your smile. Now is the time to choose to reduce your risk of gum disease and other health concerns by breaking bad habits.
